Greetings from THE STAR West Leake! We recently had the pleasure of hosting The Great British Pub Crawl, and what an evening it was. This visit was not just about food; it was a celebration of community, great beer, and the charm of a traditional country pub. We are all in agreement that Pubs are important places for the local Community and visitors alike.
So we had the lovely guys over from The Great British Pub Crawl; Now these guys first came over when they were just doing the “Great British Beer Crawl” through Nottinghamshire and they’ve had unprecedented success now with over 40,000 social media followers and last week reached a target audience of 10 million… Absolutely incredible, and like us, it’s down to their passion of finding and shouting about great beer and great food that’s got them growing and growing….
Cut to May 2024. The Great British Pub Crawl team arrived to experience our cozy, historic setting and sample some of our finest dishes prepared by Chef Dave. From burgers to Thai chicken, every bite was crafted with care and passion, reflecting our commitment to serving delicious, affordable meals to our valued patrons.
Let’s delve into the mouthwatering details:
The culinary journey began with unique twists on classic pub fare. A Mackerel Scotch Egg and Thai Fishcakes kicked off the feast, showcasing Chef Dave’s inventive approach and attention to detail (even offering a meet and greet). The Thai Fishcakes, encased in crunchy panko breadcrumbs, offered a delightful balance of texture and spice.
The “star” of the show? Our Real Ale burger, served on a pretzel bun – a surprising yet delightful combination that won over even the skeptics. Packed with homemade patties, cheddar, and optional toppings like thick-cut bacon and creamy brie, this burger is a testament to our dedication to quality and flavour.
For those craving a traditional favourite, the Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas and homemade tartare sauce did not disappoint. The perfectly cooked fish, encased in light and fluffy batter, was a true crowd-pleaser.
And who could forget dessert? Our Pistachio Tart & Pistachio Ice Cream and Vegan Chokolate Mousse left a lasting impression. Even the vegan mousse, made from tofu, impressed with its rich, decadent flavour.
Beyond the exceptional food, The Great British Pub Crawl team praised the warm hospitality and historic ambiance of our pub. Nestled in a picturesque setting.
